Post Anonymously Online Without an Account
If you want to publish something anonymously online, Letheca is an anonymous message board and anonymous posting site for short-lived posts. You can post anonymously without an account: no username, email address, profile, or login. Open the board, write a short message, and publish it. Posts are ephemeral and normally disappear after 24 hours.
When You Just Need Somewhere to Post
Sometimes you do not need a whole community, discussion board, or permanent forum account. You may simply want somewhere to say something, leave a thought, ask a question, vent briefly, or post a quick message. Letheca lets you post without signing up or logging in, then walk away. It is intentionally a low-stakes, temporary place for a message—not a profile or an ongoing identity.
How to Post Anonymously
- Open the board. No account or download needed. Letheca works in any browser on any device.
- Write something. Up to 500 characters. Say what you need to say.
- Submit. Your post goes live immediately and is visible to anyone on the board.
- Walk away. After 24 hours, your post and its temporary safety metadata are deleted unless it reaches the configured Echo threshold and becomes a Ghost Trace.
That is the entire process. You can post without signing up: there is no verification step, username to choose, email address to provide, profile to build, or login screen. No public profile or identity is attached to what you post.
What Makes This Actually Anonymous
Many platforms claim to offer anonymous posting but still collect identifying information behind the scenes. Letheca takes a different approach:
- No account system. There are no usernames, passwords, profiles, or email addresses stored anywhere.
- Private safety metadata. We temporarily retain an IP address and timestamps for a live post or reply to help address serious abuse. This information is never shown publicly and is deleted with the content unless a post becomes a Ghost Trace.
- No tracking cookies. Letheca does not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels. Local storage is used for replay-resistant Echoes and remembering the age gate confirmation.
- No device fingerprinting. There is no device ID, browser fingerprint, or advertising identifier collected.
- Automatic deletion. Posts and their temporary safety metadata are permanently deleted after 24 hours unless a post becomes a Ghost Trace.
Letheca is anonymous and ephemeral by design. Each post can receive one anonymous reply, and posts expire automatically. If a post reaches the configured Echo threshold before it expires, one sentence may become a permanent Ghost Trace. This is not an ongoing profile or community identity: the board stays available, while individual posts are meant to fade.
This is public anonymity by design, not a promise that the service collects no security metadata. Any temporary safety metadata is kept private and is not displayed with your post.
When Anonymous Posting Is Useful
There are moments when saying something under your own name carries more risk than the statement itself warrants:
- Working through a difficult thought before you are ready to say it publicly.
- Expressing frustration or emotional weight without it becoming part of your permanent online record.
- Sharing an experience that could be professionally or personally sensitive.
- Saying something honest that your social media audience would judge harshly.
- Testing an idea or opinion without the social consequences of attaching your name to it.
